About UsWomen of Fire Ministries was established in the Fall of 2007 with a purchase of a home located at 18104 Date Palm Drive in Penitas, Texas. Rev. Maricela Hernandez felt a burden to train women for ministry by offering the teaching of the required Biblical courses to apply for ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God fellowship. She asked two of her very best friends to join her in prayer for this vision to become a reality. Rev. Esmeralda Acosta from McAllen, Texas was an instructor, and Rev. Mary Garcia from Houston, Texas provided furniture for the ministry house which opened its doors in June of 2008 to the first fourteen women who attended the initial summer internship program. Seven of them were married and seven were single. They came from Oklahoma, Arkansas, West Texas, Houston, Amarillo, Tyler, Alice, and the Rio Grande Valley. By the following year, a male dorm was built, and six young men registered to come in for the summer of 2009. The program was renamed to Flames of Fire Bible School. Today, the school offers a seven week summer residential program for youth and young adults and an evening programs every Monday for local ministry students. The school began with one house with fourteen beds and one classroom to now having four buildings, a conference room, kitchen and dining hall, a Chapel, and over 70 dorm beds, all for God's glory.
